FOR LACI: SHARON ROCHA WRITES BOOK.

Aside from celebrity gossip, friends might say I'm a bit of a trial junkie. I've got a thing for the law and the good guys who put the bad guys away. In 2004- 2005 my trial obsessions included those of Robert Blake, Michael Jackson and the biggest one of them all, Scott Peterson. I am still amazed at how a seemingly normal looking guy who everyone seemed to love and had no criminal record could end up murdering his wife and unborn baby. It is a scary thought for any woman out there. Sometimes, you don't know who the hell you could be married to or dating. A bunch of books have come out about the Scott Peterson trial...There was unknowing mistress Amber Frey's book, "Witness: For The Prosecution of Scott Peterson" (read it), "Inside the Mind of Scott Peterson" (read it), money grubbing half-sister Anne Bird's book "Blood Brother: 33 Reasons My Brother Scott Peterson is Guilty" (did NOT read it), Catherine Crier from Court TV's "A Deadly Game: The Untold Story of The Scott Peterson Investigation" (plan on reading it), former Peterson defense attorney Matt Dalton's "Presumed Guilty: What The Jury Never Knew About Laci Peterson's Murder and Why Scott Peterson Should Not Be on Death Row" (read that too).

Finally, a book on Laci Peterson has come out written by someone that is not a reporter, former lover, former lawyer or distant relative trying to make a buck. It's called, "For Laci: A Mother's Story of Love, Loss and Justice," written by Laci Peterson's mother Sharon Rocha. It's the first time an immediate family member has spoke in detail about the disappearance of a pregnant Laci, the endless search for her and finally having to come to grips with the horrifying realization that Laci had been murdered (possibly by her own husband) and was never coming home. Sharon tells us about "Laci the daughter" and that she was so much more than just the smiling image shown to the public on the television each night. She tells about her conversations with Amber Frey and the treatment she received from Scott Peterson's family and how a psychic's description of her daughter's murder lead her to visit the San Francisco Bay where Laci and her unborn grandson's bodies washed ashore a month after her visit,
"It wasn't just the wind I struggled against," Rocha wrote. "The longer I was there and the more I looked, the more I knew in my soul that Laci was out there. I felt it so strongly. I stared out at that place where water and sky converged and I felt an umbilical tug between me and my daughter. She was there, I was certain." In the final pages of her book, Rocha speaks directly to the man who murdered her daughter, "and now Scott Peterson, I am saying this to you: You deserve to burn in hell for all eternity."

For those of you who even dare to try and give Sharon crap about writing a book, she said she plans to use money from the book to start a fund for search and rescue in memory of Laci and Conner. Yes, people on the outside looking in got caught up in the scandal of it all (I'm guilty). But hopefully this book will put an end to that and just leave us with a story about a beautiful girl and a heartbroken mother whose written tribute to her was her only way of hugging her daughter goodbye. So, let's take a break from the Angelina's, the Lindsays, the Jessica and Nicks, and read "For Laci" (something that really matters).

Sharon Rocha will have her first in-depth interviews in more than a year with: Katie Couric on Sunday, Jan. 8 (7 pm, ET) on "Dateline NBC," and on Monday, Jan. 9 (7 am, ET) on "Today,"
"Larry King Live" (CNN) Jan. 9, and Nancy Grace (Court TV) and Greta Van Susteren (Fox) Jan. 10.
