I think her wacky behavior is to be blamed on the prescription drugs she has admitted to have taken for health problems, which Paula says were to "treat inflammatory arthritis and reflex sympathetic dystrophy." Oh Paula, the poor dear is always in so much physical pain. Whatever, even if she isn't dipping into the sauce, she still crazy!

She almost looks like she's had a stroke or something. It's not like drunkin' regular slurring, her face droops and stuff, ya know?
If she's not drunk or on drugs then she has a brain tumor and needs medical help, because something is wrong.
