TYRA BANKS WANTS YOU TO KNOW SHE REALLY ISN'T THAT FAT.
It must be a slow week in the tabloids when someone makes the cover of People Magazine because they want to tell the world they are not really as fat as you think they are. America's Next Top Model host and former model, Tyra Banks, was a victim of the tabloid paparazzi recently when she was snapped frolicking in the ocean in a not so flattering one piece bathing suit over the holidays. She tells People magazine she was hurt when the photos ended up splashed all over the rags and internet gossip sites exclaiming she had now become a fattie. In an upcoming episode of The Tyra Banks Show that is supposed to air next week, Tyra has reportedly decided to prance out on stage in the very same bathing suit she wore in tabloid photos to prove that the photos were taken at a bad angle and she really doesn't look that bad.Yes, if you watch ANTM, you probably noticed that Tyra had become a bit "thicker" than previous years, but hell, she ain't fat considering she is almost 6 ft tall and the girl is still gorgeous. In reality, Tyra says she has only gained 30 lbs since the beginning of her modeling days and weighs in at a healthy 161 lbs. Hey, if Tyra isn't modeling anymore and she wants to enjoy her food, let her. Considering the fact that she had to watch her weight all the years she was doing the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues and Victoria's Secret catalogs, as long as she doesn't get unhealthy, let Tyra eat her fried food without having to endure criticism.
Saying that, I don't understand why she feels the need to go out on her talk show in the bathing suit to show everyone that she looks better than the way the tabloids depicted her. The whole message Tyra's talk show sends out is love yourself for who you are, whether you are a little chunky, overweight, funny looking or just a plain 'ol dork. It's a good message, but Tyra's plans to go out on stage in the infamous bathing suit, under the guise of proving "sometimes, the camera does lie," kind of defeats the purpose of what Tyra girl is supposed to be about. Saying that, we'll have to wait until the episode airs to see if maybe she takes the situation in a completely different direction.

Well... wanting to be loved no matter what you look like and wanting people to not make you look worse aren't necessarily incompatible.
I'm so sick of this fat vs. skinny bullshit. I think being healthy is what counts.
I was lucky enough to be on her show last week. She is totally not fat! She's really really tall (I'm like 5ft) and so very nice.
The heroin-sunken-chic look is under attack right now. Even runways and fashion houses are the focus of news stories. So Tyra bringing it up is good timing, maybe taking advantage of the recent headlines that anorexic is getting old. As in, when you see yourself in a mirror it's the angle... self-esteem twists everything. Tyra can show that what you see is NOT necessarily what you get.
i'm not a tyra fan. she looks like the drag queen guy that was popular in the early 90's. on her moceling contest show, she is a total bioytch.
her show sucks. yeah, she will wear the bathing suit again after 5 make up artists tweak her weave and slather makeup all over her body. yeah, im sure real women wear stillettos to the beach.
She's my new hero. She's nuttier than a fruitcake, but she's still my hero.
BTW, I'd sell my momma to the Arabs to weigh 161 lbs. I think that's pretty damned skinny for a six footer.
From what I've heard, the woman works out and eats fairly healthy. It's not always about outside appearance either (re: being 161 for 6'0"). But I do think it's great that she is putting a "this is me" image out there.
TW- I like that you stated your opinion on it, but also added the bit about "we'll wait to see when the episode airs". Who knows how she will present the issue? As far as I'm concerned, I like that she is able to walk out on a stage in front of people in a bathing suit. I think that I'm fairly healthy and still would not have the guts to do that. Even as a former model that takes guts.
you go girl, strut it! tyra is more 'normal' than those vomiting, chain-smoking, death-chicks that walk the fashion aisles. btw, havent we all had at least one bad photo?
can you post the pic that shows her on vacation and she certainly does look fat (not like the pic that people has on the cover)
9:17- Yes, I agree, I saw the photo a couple weeks ago in the National Enquirer. About posting it on here, sorry, but bloggers are not allowed anymore to post photos from paparazzi agencies without paying an enormous fee for them and i dont want to get sued, so i am going to respect that rule. It wouldn't be hard to find that photo on somewhere on the web, search around the internet and it will come up!
Tyra's just getting older and although she may not be as fine as she was back in the day at least she's not getting all plastic surgery-ed out like many of her peers.
What little criticism tyra is getting for her fat butt is nothing compared to how she and the other "judges" on her next top model show practically destroy their wannabe model candidates. seriously, have you guys watched that show?

i suggest for her fake "lets be real" show, she should let the girls from her next top model show be her judges and let her know how freakky teakky she really looks. i think that tyra is really a man.
That is insane that bloggers cannot post paparrazi photos --- give me a break, they should be happy that their photos get posted on blogs!!!
BTW I love you tabloid whore --- being able to access your site during my workday for a few moments of entartainment is priceless.

Tablod Whore hit it on the head, I'm not exactly a Tyra fan but I find myself watching her show & 1 of her MAIN topics is teaching young celebrity obsessed girls who want to mirror the behavior of much older thinner not role model like celebs as far as their obsession with appearance namely being thin. So, for Tyra to make a big deal of this issue is hypocritical of what she preaches on her show.
If she's happy with how she looks even with the extra pounds, great for her, but why ask People mag to do a freakin feature on it & then to follow-up with an entire episode about it? Isn't that a bit much & basically saying, I won't let you think I'm a fattie, no way, not me! She's no different than all the other vanity obsessed celebs out there. She did the same thing when she had a Dr. feel her up on national television just to prove her breasts were real, sad. She needs to do some work on herself (spirit/soul), maybe then she could stop obsessing over the men who cheated on her in the past, stop attacking her female guests who do things in their lives she doesn't agree with (groupies, party girls, porn stars etc) & acting like she's so perfect because she detests porn & maybe she'd have a real relationship for once - she just doesn't seem happy to me - FAKE yes, genuinely happy - NO!
