MTV's "THE HILLS" SEASON FINALE RECAP: "TIMING IS EVERYTHING."

Image via Lauren-conrad.net

Update: I've noticed that a lot of you have said in the comments section your dvr's cut off before the end of the episode, you can watch the last five minutes here -more-or-less.

Here we go! The season finale of
The Hills.....

Lauren and Jason are at a beach house in Malibu looking out at the water and the dolphins from the balcony. Jason then tells Lauren again how he really wants to rent the place with her for the summer and get away from all the people they've been hanging out with. Lauren likes that idea and gets a little smirk on her face. Oh Jason is soooo dreamy!

It's L.A. Fashion week and scary lady Lisa Love is having a meeting with Whitney and Lauren, barking out all these orders to the girls. There is some big fashion show that they have to work where some big cheese Editor-in-Chief from Teen Vogue will be making an appearance. The girls are now in the middle of stress central. That night, Lauren takes off to meet scary lady and the Editor-in-Chief from Teen Vogue and the funny thing is, when she meets her, the Vogue big wig was nicer to Lauren than scary lady has ever been all season. Lauren's big job for the night is to get 2 extra tickets for a sold out fashion show for 2 more Vogue editors. Poor Lauren is practically in tears because whoever the bitch was at the fashion show that handled the tickets, wouldn't give her any without knowing who they were for. This woman was so evil and mean and just stood there rolling her eyes at Lauren and telling her, "you have to move quicker than this if you want to work in the fashion business." I am so glad they caught her mean ass on camera. Thankfully, Lauren gets the names and bitch gives her the tickets for scary lady. Phew! All is good again in Lauren's world.

The next day in the Teen Vogue offices, scary lady calls Lauren alone into her office. Lauren is shitting in her pants at this point because she remembers the last time she was called in alone, scary lady reamed her for letting her friends sit on the white couches. Surprisingly, scary lady tells her she did a great job during her internship and says that Whitney will be interning for Teen Vogue in New York this summer and they are now trying to find a place to put Lauren. Then, she drops a bomb on Lauren and tells her that actually, she has been nominated to do an internship with Vogue for the summer in Paris. Normally this would be an exciting prospect for a young girl that wants to make it in the fashion industry, but at this point, a look of absolute dread comes across Lauren's face. I even think she turned yellow. Oh no! What about Jason and the beach house?!

Lauren tells Whitney about the Paris internship and Whitney is freaking out like, "Oh my God! That is my dream! How the hell did you get the offer and not me bitch?! Damn you and your MTV camera crew following you! I walked the runway! You let your friends sit on the white couches!" Ahh, I love Whitney. So Lauren starts saying she doesn't know what to do because she has already planned her summer with Jason to have the perfect Barbie and Ken Malibu beach house and if she goes, she might not end up with the Barbie pink Corvette. Okay, maybe she didn't say the thing about the Barbie Corvette, but I prefer to remember it that way. At this point you know Whitney is praying Lauren turns it down and is like, "Whatever, dumbass! Go and be in your Malibu beach house with your coked up boyfriend! I'll take the damn internship in Paris!" That's right Whitney.

Later at the apartment, Lauren tells Heidi about the internship and even dingbat Heidi is like, "oh my god, that's HUGE! What are you going to do?!" Again, Lauren brings up "the Jason factor." Good God woman! Ya see, Lauren is afraid that if she goes to Paris for the whole summer, her relationship with the asshole will get totally screwed up. Oh, we would never want that to happen, would we? Lauren falling in love with a nice Parisian boy over dumbass Jason? Never! So later on, Lauren goes to the amazing beach house where Jason is and I assume, already rented. Don't even get me started on trying to figure out how those bastards can afford that place. Last time I checked, an internship pays nothing and no one can figure out what Jason does for work. Oh wait. That's right, MTV pays him a shitload of money for these reality shows and he must also make bank showing up at clubs for "appearances." Anyway, Lauren breaks the news to Jason about the internship and Jason is like, "duhhh uhhh, are you going??" Again, Lauren shrugs her shoulders and in a shocking move, Jason tells her he will support Lauren in whatever she does and he will always be there for her because she has always been there for him. After that, she calls him over to the couch and hugs him. Damn, he knows how to work the girl. Okay, I will admit that I became a bit sad for them at this point, but I think it was just due to the Coldplay music in the background that got me all emotional. Thankfully, the commercial break right after was enough time to turn me back into a cold bitch.

Ugh, so we come back to the final jacuzzi scene with Heidi and Audrina. Heidi is sitting there, just ripping Jordan a new A-Hole. The tears from last week are gone and now she's yapping about how she can't believe she was ever with him and now that she is single, she can't wait to go out every night and slut it up. Goooo Heidi! Later in the apartment, Lauren is all packed up to go somewhere and when she is about to leave the apartment, Heidi makes Lauren say goodbye to everything, the dog Bella, the apartment, her bed and the spatula in the kitchen. Lauren, happy to be free of that dingbat for the summer, takes off in her convertible BMW with suitcase in the back. Hmmm... this is sooo reminiscent of Laguna Beach season 2. Where will she go? What will she do?? Paris or Jason? Paris or Jason? Well, next thing you know, we see scary lady waiting at LAX for someone who we assume is Lauren. Scary lady is standing there at the curb waiting and checking her cellphone frantically like, "Bitch! Your ass better get to this airport now! I don't do curbside!" Then the scene flips to Lauren still driving and then to some shots of Jason looking at the ocean and standing on the Malibu beach house balcony. Where will she go? What will she do??? Next, the wind was taken out of many The Hills viewers sails when suddenly Lauren's car pulls into the beach house driveway. Oh no. Lauren comes out on the balcony where she greets Jason and kisses him. Ugh. She stayed with him. Scary lady is still waiting at the curb cursing and pissed off when we see a pair of legs dragging a suitcase and walking towards her. Slowly, the camera pans up and we see that it's the fabulous Whitney, and we assume on her way to Paris for the internship. Who cares if she got sloppy seconds, Whitney deserved that internship a hellavalot more!

The season finale ends with Jason and Lauren out on the balcony and he says to her (tooootally scripted) "Oh Lauren, you came just in time for the sunset. We're going to have a good summer. I love you." And again, all is good in the world of Lauren Conrad.

Do you think Lauren made the right decision?

She definitely did not make the right decision, but I have to agree with you, Whitney deserved the Paris internship a lot more.
Go Whitney!!

She is so clearly not in love with the idea of a career in fashion (and why should she be with MTV following her every move?) or she would've jumped at the chance to go to Paris. It's a shame--all her talk this season to Heidi about school and when she gets this...she blows it. Wonder what Mama and Papa Conrad thought of that decision...

I think this was the BEST RECAP EVER!!!

Do you think the Paris internship was really an offer TeenVogue had for LC? OR, do you think MTV said, "hey, we need a hook for the season finale--since we've been advertising your mag all season, offer our girl an offer she'll refuse"? I mean, c'mon--can she really be THAT stupid/naive to think Jason is more important than this opportunity??? TW asked if we thought she made the right decision--absolutely NOT.

Lauren is an idiot! Even back in the Laguna Beach days she never seemed to possess any drive or ambition. I mean she quite college after one semester because it wasn't for her. She just seems like she likes something until something better comes along. As for her sacrificing her career for Jason, well that was probably the biggest mistake she could ever make. I was extremely disappointed by her choice.

i actually heard a rumor that there is no teen vogue in california. and the whole thing is scripted and their office is just a set, thats why you don't see tons of people walking around

The minute she has another one of those horribly dissapointing moments with Jason she is going to regret her choice so much! She didnt seem completely happy at the very end when they were out on the deck...

I just don't get it, totally dissapointed in her choice but not really surprised...

Very scripted. I heard MTV tried to get a intership in Paris (not Vogue) but they were turned down. So it didn't really make any difference

But, I do agree that Whitney deserves the internship more than Lauren. So, that's a concession. :)

She's stupid for not going and her friends and boyfriend are stupid for not making her go. She will regret it the rest of her life (if any of this is even true)she will always be thinking "i wonder what my life would be like if i did go"

OMG, Tabloid Whore, I love you. I'm stuck in Singapore and Shanghai for the last three weeks on my husband's business trip, and I've kept up on the Hills thru your posts (even though he works for Slingbox and I could've watched them on the laptop had I dealt). Who needs to watch when your witty comments make me piss my pants? Thank god I'm in a fancy hotel where they don't charge you extra for urinating on the carpet.....

Lauren was stupid not to go; especially since Jason said he'd support her decision whatever she decided to do. They couldn't be apart for like 2 1/2 mos.??? If he could afford that beach house, I'm sure he could afford a plane ticket to Paris to visit her. I knew she wouldn't except because there's all of these snapshots of her, her & Jason, her & Heidi taken all over L.A., Hollywood, Orange County, etc. at different events this summer, so I knew she couldn't have went to Paris. Will be interesting to see what next
season is about.

I can't wait until that asshole cheats on her ONCE AGAIN and then she can regret paris for the rest of her pathetic life...she gives good independent women, who are smart and don't need a man...a bad name. She f*cking RETARDED!!!! She had a chance to grow and move on from that LOOOSER and she stayed. You could tell that the look on her face was full of regret at the end...jason probably called one of his hoodrats after to invite her over once his girlfriend stepped out.

Thanks for this- you saved my life! We tivo'd it and it didn't record the final scene! So I searched and searched google for a recap to get the scoop asap! Here you are. You are doing a service you didn't realize could change worlds! BTW Lauren, you are cute but stoopid. Jason is the genious, and he's playing you like the silly putty you've allowed yourself to become (in every aspect of your life apparently).

she must be on something along the lines of crack to turn down paris for the man skank. i don't know that the whole paris thing is fake because she was supposed to get an internship with louis vuitton but they turned her down..maybe if they hadn't turned her down she would have gone? it's true that there is an LA teen vogue office but it might have also been a set because it could interupt the people that work there...idk

evil mtv has us just where they want us! haha! we're all hooked on the show, dying for a second season, and its stirred up quite a bit of discussion and excitment from all of us when stupid-head lauren makes the bozo decision of the year!

well, i think its rigged. and scripted or whateverthehell. but i dont care, its damn good tv. stupid lauren, crackhead jason is no good for you.... you only stayed because you dont trust him for three months with you on another continent... understandable... i wouldnt either.

i'm sure there's a twist to this and that we'll all say "i should have known all along!" when the second season begins like complete idiots.

i cant wait :)

TW your recaps are the best!!

I wonder what Whitney's doing now? All you ever see about Lauren is hanging out with Jason in Us weekly and crap. The show isn't scripted by the way, I've been around while they filmed Laguna Beach and The Hills. And I'm sure the Paris internship wasn't staged, she was probably offered it just because she's LC. She's dumb for not taking the internship because going to FIDM gets you NOWHERE except working sales in retail.

Paris is the smart choice. Her boyfriend is a total, burn-out, loser. He is so high all the time it makes me sick.

Lauren did not make the right choice.

Glad I missed it.

I decided Lauren is a dumb bitch. Not doing and internship- in fucking Paris non-the-less to be with a not so cute, scruffy-faced, cokehead loser boyfriend who really doens't give a shit about you? Um, I don't think so...

if jason is so rich, why wouldn't they go to paris TOGETHER? wouldn't that get them some alone time? i agree with everyone who said she was never offered the internship. NO ONE who was into fashion would turn down that job.

LOL at ur recap and all the comments!!! I looooove loove love ur recaps, i usually read it after watching the show...but i am on vacation now( just in time to miss the finale) and i was already freaking out..but yet again u came to the rescue! lol THANKS!!!

now on to the story,
Lauren is STUPID for not going to Paris!! although i think she works hard(okay fairly hard...), she does deserve to go to Paris, but then she chose JASON!?!??! STUPID! Im pretty sure he could have come with her, hes LOADED!!( well at least his grandparents are, thats why that stupid coked up high school dropout, had a new car like every episode of LB). This was a very stupid decision, but then again i heard that T.Vogue tried to get her an interview with Louis Vuitton paris and they turned her down, so maybe that was MTV's way of making sure they got a happy ending...

4:28 PM, August 03, 2006

Oh LC... Jason over Paris? I think she knows she made a mistake, if not now, eventually she will look back in regret. At the very least take him with you to Paris, but for god's sake, don't pass up the opportunity. The heart is a complicated thing though and LC will grow from this. I fear the resentment toward Jason for passing up Paris is going to drive a stake between them the size of the Empire State Bldg. His rather insincere.. "err, yeah, i'll support whatever you decide... err" wasn't convincing. His face said, "You go and we're done." Jason needs to do a lot of growing.. he's not a good communicator of his feelings and when upset ends up behaving badly. That, and a bit of a selfish streak, makes for a bad combination. Oh Lauren.. live and learn...

Lauren is a dumbass. I used to love her in Laguna Beach and I hated Kristin. However, Kristin would never have chosen a boy over an opportunity like Paris.
After watching the Hills, I think Whitney rocks and I actually like Heidi....at least she has a personality...lauren's has been sucked away from jason and his crack. i saw lauren recently at a promo and she looked like she on it.

5:53 PM, August 03, 2006

I heard somewhere that it said she was simply nominated to go to Paris, never really chosen. So maybe the kicker will be that she didn't end up getting the internship anyway so therefore HAD to go back to that loser of a boyfriend. Dunno, just a thought.

9:52 PM, August 03, 2006
Anonymous Anonymous said...

HELL NOOOOOOOOOO!! She should've went to Paris!

9:55 AM, August 04, 2006
Anonymous Anonymous said...

FUCK NO!,
She worked her ass off at that internship for nothing? She was lucky to have that opportunity. Lauren Conrad IS a very fortunate girl. She had a hit reality show, Laguna Beach. She's good-looking and wealthy. Do you know how many people would of DIED for that internship? MANY! Ew. After reading this, I'm gonna have to agree with Kristin thinking that Lauren Conrad is a dumbass. Speaking of that,Heidi pisses me off too. She's not even hot. She seems like a brat and super dumb. Who the fuck actually would turn that an amazing opportunity like that for a freeloader? He's an asshole son of bitch. HE'S CHEATED ON HER, HE TREATS HER LIKE SHIT AND WE EVIDENCE OF THAT! Being with Jason is just setting herself up for misery and heartbreak. A girl who ONCE had her head on shoulder's life is now crashing down.

3:25 PM, August 04, 2006
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sorry let me rephrase that last sentence.
**It hurts to see someone who once had her head on her shoulders go crashing down, down hill. And it really sucks 'cause IF she ever regrets this..all she has to do is watch the last episode of "The Hills".

Sorry, it's me again.
If L.C wasn't rich, if she didn't have everything given to her as she was growing, you think that may have cause her to make such an absurd decision?

OK all I have to say is I LOVE your recaps.. and the comments on here KILL ME!! I love it...

I think LC is just as dumb as Heidi. (And THAT is pretty bad..) There is NO WAY anyone in their right mind would choose that douche bag over PARIS (especially with an opprotunity like that, to basecially live your dream!) They had to of not really offered it to her or something..

reality tv. PSSH!

She had once in a life time oppurtunity, and it was knocking on her door and what did she do? she opened the door and slammed it shut. As far as Jaso, once a cheater always a cheater. Here's a tip for Jason quit doing drugs, get a facial, and maybe you can try to take care of some other innocent girl. And by the way I heard you were still talking to Jessica from Laguna Beach!

How are Lauren and Jason even together? She has the personality of a rock and he hardly ever speaks. I just am not seeing the love. It's gotta be a set up. There is no chemistry with these two.

If the Paris opp was real she should've went. UGH! I agree with the person that said Lauren always looks like she's going to cry. She needs some fresh makeup ideas, get her roots colored and loosen up for goodness sake!!!!!!!!!!!

She's an idiot...even if it was just an MTV fix, an opportunity is an opportunity. You don't just waste an opportunity like that. i think that jason got LC all hopped up on the crack cocaine and then made her call teen vogue and decline the damn offer, LAUREN SERIOUSLY WTF, now ur turning into a damn crackhead too!? i cried... i really did, it was such a tragic moment in my life. "When I get an opportunity that I'm really interested in, I will devote everything to it" a DIRECT quote from Lauren in episode 1 where she was talking with Susan Aronson... i guess shes not interested in fashion then? cuz she sure as hell did not devote everything to it. WHY JASON WHY!?!?

ummm so i definitely just realized that jason's birthday is on JAN 11....and his 'birthday' episode was like episode 5...and it wasnt until episode 7 that it was the "christmas" episode..how did they go to january before december?
and furthermore, lauren is wearing the Chanel pursee jason gave her for christmas in episode 5---and she doesnt 'get it' until episode 7.
wow...everything is really twisted.

and furthermore, apparently mtv was trying to get lauren an internship with louis vuitton in paris originially for the summer, louis vuittton said no...so they had to make up a story about the teen vogue paris thing...
so maybe that could be why lauren had to 'choose jason?"
just a thought.

I think Lauren picked the wrong choice. It was clear she should have gone to Paris. I mean, either stay with a guy who you're inevitably NOT going to be with (because he will cheat on her again) or go on a once in a lifetime trip to Paris to do what you love for the summer? It's not like she was going over there for an eternity. She'd be back in 3 MONTHS! She could shack up with Jason NEXT summer. Anyway, I have to disagree about Whitney deserving the internship more... Lauren always got the shit end of the deal (guarding a 'table', working late on her boyfriends b-day, getting sold out tickets for unknown editors). She worked hard for that internship, but damnit she made the wrong decision.
