IT'S OFFICIAL: 'FUEL' WANTS DAUGHTRY

Extra has just put out the following press release confirming the band FUEL wants Chris Daughtry as their lead singer. We had heard about this when Chris was still on Idol, but the band is throwing the offer out there again. Thanks to TMZ for the scoop!
For the non-Idol watchers, sorry for so many Daughtry posts today. I'm still in shock. Tabloid Whore will be back to it's usual trash tomorrow!

(Los Angeles – May 11, 2006) In an EXCLUSIVE interview, the multi-platinum rock band Fuel comes to Extra and to say they want American Idol’s eliminated Chris Daughtry!

Fuel bass player Jeff Abercrombie and songwriter/guitarist Carl Bell came straight to Extra’s Idol Correspondent Terri Seymour with the offer of a lifetime... they want Chris.

The band has been searching for a new lead singer and definitely took notice of Chris’ rendition of their hit “Hemorrhage” March 1st on Idol. “Chris, if you’re watching,” Bell says, “we’ve talked about this before, if you wanna entertain it again, we’ll entertain it again and go!”

How’d the idea get hatched? Extra Senior Executive Producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey played the matchmaker. “It came to me last night as I watched Chris get voted off,” she says, “the wife of Fuel’s bass player works for Extra so I know the guys in the band well. It seemed like a perfect fit!”

As for Elvis, Bell says no worries. “Chris, you won’t have to do any Elvis songs if you come to Fuel bro- they’re no more! You won’t have to do that.”

Extra is a Time Telepictures Television production and is distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. For more information on the show, please visit Extra at www.extratv.com or AOL Keyword Extra.

This guy is so full of himself. He blamed fans for thinking he was safe and not voting as the reason he is out. Two others have consistently had a larger fan base all season. I couldn't care less who wins this shit, but his USA Today interview made me sick.

oh please. first off, it's the truth. its our fault for not voting and for thinking he was safe. i count myself as one of those people. I read the article, he's not full of himself, just honest. better that than some fake sugary sweet "oh it's ok" answer. http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2006-05-11-daughtry-interview_x.htm

This guy is not full of himself. Even if he was, wouldn't you be if you were that flippin good. Chris did not deserve to be kicked off. If he takes the Fuel deal he will be bigger then any other idol.. I say do it and can't wait to buy the cd...

I think it's better for his career for him to go other than with an AI related contract. He has more potential this way, more open doors, etc. Getting voted off could be the best thing for him.

That's sweet that his fans are trying to defend him, but he's definitely self absorbed. That's fine that he was real about it, but he wasn't gracious at all. He could't thank the fans, or the judges, or the show....he just blamed everyone else for his exit except himself. He sure had me duped, I thought he was a nice guy!

IMO, he was a boring, un-charismatic one trick pony. And out of the top 4 (even the top 5) he was the least talented left.

SO happy Taylor is still in the game! :)
