Tabloid Whore!

You all may remember Elizabeth Smart, she was the 14 year old girl who was abducted at gunpoint from her bedroom in Utah on June 5th 2002, while her 10 year old sister Mary Katharine witnessed the abduction as she lay in her bed frozen with fear, pretending to be sleeping. A crazy, crazy man by the name of Brian David Mitchell, 49, who once helped repair the roof of her families house was responsible for the kidnapping. Mitchell, along with his cuckoo for cocoa puffs wife Wanda Barzee, held Elizabeth captive for 9 months.

Elizabeth's kidnappers made sure to never leave her side, all while hiding her in the mountains of Utah just miles from her home and also moving her around from city to city. While in public, they made her wear a veil to cover her face so she would not be recognized. It is a crazy, crazy story and a miracle that she was rescued, because sadly, we know from watching the news these days that in these type of abduction cases, most of the time the person abducted is later found dead. If you are not familiar with this story, you can read all about it HERE.

Elizabeth Smart has done very few interviews since her rescue 3 years ago and tonight, Elizabeth, her father Ed Smart and America's Most Wanted host John Walsh will be the guest on CNN's Larry King Live. It will be her first live interview and sure to be a fascinating one. I cannot wait to watch it and see how she is doing and how her life is going. Also, I found a great clip of Katie Couric's Dateline interview with Elizabeth and her family from Dec. 2003, six months after she was rescued. Check it out HERE.

You got me all excited about this, but when I looked it up it looks like John Walsh, Robert Shapiro, and Elizabeth's dad will also be on the show, so I doubt this interview will be what we would like it to be. I thought maybe since she would now be 18 she might be telling more about what happened, but I kinda doubt it.

I saw her and her dad interviewed on FOX News a few months back and she will not say much of what went on during that time. She has not even told her family the entire story. She is doing extremely well...almost eerily well. I don't know if she received wonderful therapy or if she is a good actress.
