Henry Rollins is a frick'n King to me. I have so much respect for the man. For those of you who aren't familiar with him, 1) get familiar with him 2) he's the lead singer of the Rollins Band, former lead singer of Black Flag and also a writer and actor. Plus, he does these awesome spoken word shows where he gets up on stage on talks about everything from his crazy life experiences to music, pop culture and politics. Last week IFC aired one of his spoken word shows called, "Henry Rollins - Uncut from NYC" (if you missed it, there is a long clip from it here) and it did not disappoint. I have been lucky enough to see him do these shows a few times, most recently last year at McCabe's in Los Angeles which is basically this tiny, tiny room with a stage and about 60 seats. So exciting.
Premiering tonight at 10PM ET on IFC (and encoring Thursdays at 11PM ET), Henry says that the new season of The Henry Rollins show will "feature the most uncensored conversations in television with musicians, filmmakers and artists who have a lot more to talk about than what awards show they are going to or who they are currently dating." Henry is pissed off about a lot of things going on in the world right now, so it's sure to be an interesting season. You may agree with his point of view, you may not. But one thing is for certain, he will make you think (and thinking is good). Tonight on the season premiere, Henry's guests will be Oliver Stone and the indie band Sleater-Kinney.
