ONE TREE HILL: FRIENDS WITH BENEFIT.

Most of the time, soundtracks to movies or television shows basically suck. Fortunately, there are a couple television shows out there that have mastered the art of the soundtrack. Or better yet, mastered the art of a fine mix CD. The O.C. is one of those shows, already putting out 5 different soundtracks, all of them, pretty darn good. The other show is One Tree Hill, who has just released their second soundtrack, with the catchy little title of "Friends With Benefit." Oh how I love my mixes, not to mention, silly teen dramas. The title plays off last season's storyline of Brooke "benefiting" around with her friend Felix, but the cd itself was incorporated into the show when Peyton met her birth mom who is dying of breast cancer and they began working together on a compilation CD that would benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation. "Friends With Benefit" is a mix of tunes that perfectly captures the feel of the show and features bands like Audio Slave, Nada Surf, Jimmy Eat World & Hot Hot Heat. I listened to the CD all weekend and am obsessed with Michelle Featherstone's "Coffee and Cigarettes" and MoZella's "Light Years Away" (a mellow little dreamy track with great lyrics). Another cool thing about this is that a portion of the proceeds really do go to Breast Cancer research. You can check out the entire MoZella track, not to mention, samples of the rest of the cd online at Maverick, just click on the media player. Good stuff.
