YAY! TONIGHT THE SHIELD IS BACK!

CONSCIENCE IS A KILLER.
I am so excited! Tonight is the season premiere of FX's The Shield (10pm FX)! Along with Nip/Tuck and 24, it's one of my absolute favorite dramas on television today. Season five brings us new cast member Forrest Whitaker who comes to The Barn as Investigative Affairs Division lead investigator Jon Kavanaugh. He's going to be all over Detective Vic Mackey's ass, conducting an internal investigation about the fellow cop that was killed in the very first episode of The Shield season one (remember him?). That's right kids, we are talking about the same cop that Mackey shot in the head and killed when he realized this guy was onto his dirty cop ways, then he covered it up to save his own ass. The way I look at it, yah, Vic can do some bad stuff and makes his own rules, but he always does it to the bad guys, so who cares (ok, the cop he killed was the one exception!). In the end, it's all for the greater good and alright, maybe for a couple extra dollars in Mackey's wallet. Other surprises include, Officer Danny Sofer suddenly six months pregnant and refusing to say who the baby's father is, plus Detective Claudette Wyms reveals to her partner Detective Dutch Wagenbach that she has a terminal illness she has been keeping from him (oh no!). If you don't already watch The Shield, please give it a shot (heh, pardon the pun). Yes, it can be a pretty hardcore cop drama, you definitely may jump or cover your eyes at times, but it's definitely one of the best written and acted television dramas on the tube today.

I love it when Vic's crew beat that guy to a pulp then Vic walked over and left one of his calling cards 'Strike Team was here'.

God how I love this bald sexy short man.

What I like best about The Shield is how the characters have changed after Season One. Lemonhead with his ulcers, Shane getting crazy, and Vic trying to hold the whole disintegrating charade together. Dutch and Claudette are great too. What I don't like is, that as is the rule in Film Noir, they haven't been punished for their sins. At least, not yet. For the narrative to hold together they have to make recompense. That's what I'm waiting for.

LOVE LOVE LOVE The Shield... Vic is hotter than hell.....

are you going to do weekly recaps too? I will be sure to come back and read them!!!!!

I'm just so glad that we didn't have to wait until freaking March this year to see a new season start up! And you know... Vic won't get caught... there goes the show down the drain if he does....
